Organizations are finding that they must compete in an increasingly fast-paced, competitive, and international environment. In human resource managementdepartment, the faculty is interested in exploring the ways in which organizations become competitive by understanding the dynamics of the international environment, the problems of growth, and the complexity associated with managing individuals. These interests are manifested in basic research, teaching in our various degree programs, executive education seminars, and in faculty consulting. Specifically, the faculty members have value addition in the teaching in five major areas viz. Entrepreneurship, Human Resources, International Business, Organizational Behavior and Strategy. These are the traditional areas but as can be seen in their activities, the department encourages collaboration among all the faculty members and its students. The diversity of perspectives and backgrounds provides a fertile ground for innovation in both research and teaching.

Human resource management is concerned with managing people effectively in the workplace. This function is carried out by most managers in organizations. However, it is the duty of a specialist human resource manager to provide advice, guidance, assistance and support on employment matters to all those who have direct responsibility for the management of people in the organization. The main function of a human resource department is to ensure the recruitment, selection, training, development and retention of staff necessary for the efficient and effective management of the organization. The purpose of this course is to emphasize these skills and knowledge of human resource management.
